1946年，维尔克出生在美国科罗拉多州丹佛，随后他们家搬到加州大学圣塔莫尼卡，他在当地的学校主修戏剧学。^[1] 1966年，他在学校的戏剧《绿野仙踪》中获得了荣誉和表扬。后来，他开始了自己的演艺生涯和配音演员的职业生涯。^[2]
